I made a short LightWave tutorial. It's something simple, but may confuse new users. Making sharp corners that blend to a smooth curve using sub-patches. The audio is a little loud, so watch your volume.

Finally was able to get back to this guy. Retopologized and baked the normal map, down to about 108,000 quads (1,610 subdivided x3), that's down from about 22.5 million triangles. Currently working on painting color maps.
Current work in progress. Just a little side project I worked on for a few hours.
The question of how to model this came up and while several answers were given, this is how I would do it.
